Fall Pictures!

Well, we went today to have Dawsen's 8 month pictures taken. I wanted to try to get a couple of good ones of the two boys together, even though I really didn't think it was going to happen. Getting Jaysen to sit still long enough to take a picture with his brother is next to impossible! But Tommie is so awesome, that she was able to actually get some~! I was so amazed!! So enjoy....my babies are growing up right before my eyes!!

Shapes and Sounds!

Two of Jaysen's favorite things are shapes and animals.....so it should come as no surprise to me that he incorporates the two into one video! He takes pride in knowing all his animal sounds.....and as you can see, he thinks he is a big dude with all his shapes. I'm not sure that a two year old is supposed to know what an octagon, hexagon, and trapezoid are, but that's Jaysen....he never ceases to amaze me!! Enjoy!!

On the MOVE!!

Well we certainly knew it would happen eventually, but it sure makes me feel like my baby is all grown up! Yep, that's right....Dawsen is on the go!! He is not necessarily crawling, but he might as well be! He can scoot his way across the floor to anything, and I mean ANYTHING that he might want....and if you try to push it further away from him, he will just keep going! He can get up on his knees, but if he really wants to get somewhere, he just plops down and scoots! I guess he must think its quicker that way!! Who knows!! Big brother Jaysen isn't totally sure what to think about it either, because now Dawsen is able to take Jaysen's toys when he wants them! Jaysen doesn't really like to share yet, but we are working on it. He doesn't mind giving bubba something that he DOESN'T want to play with.....its the things that he likes that are the problem. Hopefully he will get there eventually! Anyway, enjoy the videos!

Fall is Here!

Fall is here, and that means two things.....football and pumpkins! The boys and I came to San Angelo this weekend and visited daddy. We made it to the second half of his football game, and the boys had a chance to play with Grandma Rose and Papaw Tom. They had tons of fun!

On Saturday, we went to the pumpkin patch. Jaysen had lots of fun moving the gourds and the mini pumpkins from one place to the next. Of course, no matter how hard I tried, I wasn't able to get a picture of the boys together. Oh well, at least I got one of them seperately!

And just an update on Dawsen: He is on the move! He can scoot his way across the floor, and as much as he likes to stand, you would think he will be walking any day! They just absolutely grow up TOO fast!!

Let's count!

So, Jaysen came home from school last week and said, "Let's count to diez!" I said, "count to what?" And he said, "Diez! Ready....Uno, dos, tres . . . diez! Yay Jaysen....great job!" That's my kid....counting in Spanish AND applauding himself! Of course I thought he was only able to count in rote, so I was going to try and trick him. So I said, "ok Jaysen, what is eight?" And without even skipping a beat, he said, "ocho!" So I said, "what about four?" And he said, "cuatro!" So since that didn't work, I thought I would take it a step further. I put 3 cookies in my hand and asked him how many cookies there were. Without even counting, Jaysen said, "tres." And then he did it again with seven....without even counting, looked at the group of cookies and said, "siete!" Crazy I know.....that kid never ceases to amaze me! And he even showed us later in the week that he knows most of his colors and shapes in Spanish too.....and a few phrases, such as adios!! So our little sponge is absolutely soaking up everything he is learning at school. But I'm getting a little concerned what they are going to teach him in Kindergarten....in 3 years! In the meantime....enjoy the video!!

It's POTTY time!!

For those of you with small children out there, you will appreciate my enthusiasm in this blog!! Jaysen FINALLY peepee'd in the potty today.....he has been asking to go sit and 'play' for a while now, but today he said he needed to go, so we straddled him on the potty facing the back. He threw his little lego man in the water, and I told him to aim for his head.....and VOILA! He did it!!! Maybe it's only a matter of time now and we will be out of diapers!! YAY!! For those of you for whom that was TMI (too much information), I apologize.....but i was just WAY too excited not to share!!

Go Wildcats!

Well I certainly couldn't post a blog about the Bobcats without giving a shout out to my Temple Wildcats! GO CATS!!!! I have to admit that I am true Wildcat fan, and knowing most of the kids on the team makes the games even more exciting! Lache Seastrunk, of course, is our boy.....like a son to us, so watching him dominate the field is always fun. Scott coached him in 6th and 7th grade at Travis, and knew when he saw him that he was going to be something special. In fact, that whole undefeated Travis Mustang team that he had in 7th grade was amazing, and look at them now. District Champs 2007!! Now that I am working at the high school, I see those kids daily, and can keep my thumb on them, which helps! I am certain that they will continue to have success, and we will surely see a couple of them on TV on Sundays in the next few years!

Go Bobcats!

Well, after 9 years, Scott is finally a Varsity football coach, and for his hometown football team where he played High school ball nonetheless! I took the boys last weekend (8/29/08) to watch him coach his first Varsity game, and who did they play......Copperas Cove! Ouch!! But the boys had a good time anyway. Jaysen didn't quite understand that he couldn't go OUT onto the football field, so he definitely gave me my exercise! I had to stay right on his heels, because if I didn't, he would have been through the gates and onto the field....I'm certain daddy would have loved to look up and see his wife and son running under the goal posts during the game! Everyone was so surprised how good Dawsen was just hangin out in his car seat, but he has to be.....he knows his brother is high maintenance! At half time Jaysen really liked watching the band, of course, he had to point out all the instruments, and correct Mommy too! I told him to "look at the drums" and he said, "Timpani" and "Bass Drum".......excuuuuuuuse me! Then I told him to "look at the horns", meaning all the horns in general......he starting looking around, pointing, and saying, "trumpet, saxophone, trombone, tuba".....and with a rather confused look, he said, "no french horn!" He was actually looking for the french horns, not just all the horns! That boy amazes me daily....I have no idea where he gets the things he says and knows, but I am just blessed that he is such a great kid! A little stubborn, but great nonetheless! And I couldn't ask for a better baby.....Dawsen is perfect! Never cries, sleeps all night (12+ hours), and is perfectly content just sitting and watching bubba...thank goodness!! Even though the Bobcats got beat 56-0, we still had a great time, and couldn't have been more proud of Daddy!

Jaysen's first week of preschool!

Well, I guess I was worried for nothing! Jaysen started preschool this past week, and although it was a pretty rocky start, by Friday I was able to leave with no tears (from either of us)! I was really worried about taking him that first day, but he did great. In fact, on Monday he didn't even care when I left....he actually pushed me away! And that night, when I said we are going to school the next morning, he said "Goody!" However, Tuesday I guess he figured out that I was leaving and staying gone all day, so he cried for about 10 minutes on Tuesday morning. But by Friday he was okay with me leaving. He is even laying down and taking naps by himself, which is WAY surprising to me, but I guess they are just different at school than at home! And according to his teacher, he caught on to the class routine quite quickly, even though most of the kids in there are a year older than Jaysen and will be moving up to the 3 year old class in a few weeks. He is even trying to start potty training I think , after seeing the other kids doing it! So hopefully it won't be long now....peer pressure is sometimes a great thing! Jaysen's teachers seemed amazed at the things he knows academically, and he ever surprised me this week, even though I didn't think that was possible anymore. I knew that he knew all of his shapes, but it seems like he knows ALL shapes, even hexagon, pentagon, and octagon....in fact, when I asked him how many sides an octagon has, he said, "ummmm, let's see....1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8...8 sides!" I mean, for real! I didn't even think he would attempt to answer that question, much less get it right! So I really think that this whole school thing is going to be good for him, especially with social skills! His teachers have told me that he is starting to play with the other kids, and is having lots of fun on splash days (Tuesdays and Thursdays) in the pool. So hopefully before long, he will be excited about going AND staying.....I guess we shall see!

I better run.....it's late and I still have to finish writing a paper.....until next time!

We're new here!

Just wanted to say Hi, as we are new here! I'll post some updates and pics later!!
