Let's count!

So, Jaysen came home from school last week and said, "Let's count to diez!" I said, "count to what?" And he said, "Diez! Ready....Uno, dos, tres . . . diez! Yay Jaysen....great job!" That's my kid....counting in Spanish AND applauding himself! Of course I thought he was only able to count in rote, so I was going to try and trick him. So I said, "ok Jaysen, what is eight?" And without even skipping a beat, he said, "ocho!" So I said, "what about four?" And he said, "cuatro!" So since that didn't work, I thought I would take it a step further. I put 3 cookies in my hand and asked him how many cookies there were. Without even counting, Jaysen said, "tres." And then he did it again with seven....without even counting, looked at the group of cookies and said, "siete!" Crazy I know.....that kid never ceases to amaze me! And he even showed us later in the week that he knows most of his colors and shapes in Spanish too.....and a few phrases, such as adios!! So our little sponge is absolutely soaking up everything he is learning at school. But I'm getting a little concerned what they are going to teach him in Kindergarten....in 3 years! In the meantime....enjoy the video!!

It's POTTY time!!

For those of you with small children out there, you will appreciate my enthusiasm in this blog!! Jaysen FINALLY peepee'd in the potty today.....he has been asking to go sit and 'play' for a while now, but today he said he needed to go, so we straddled him on the potty facing the back. He threw his little lego man in the water, and I told him to aim for his head.....and VOILA! He did it!!! Maybe it's only a matter of time now and we will be out of diapers!! YAY!! For those of you for whom that was TMI (too much information), I apologize.....but i was just WAY too excited not to share!!

Go Wildcats!

Well I certainly couldn't post a blog about the Bobcats without giving a shout out to my Temple Wildcats! GO CATS!!!! I have to admit that I am true Wildcat fan, and knowing most of the kids on the team makes the games even more exciting! Lache Seastrunk, of course, is our boy.....like a son to us, so watching him dominate the field is always fun. Scott coached him in 6th and 7th grade at Travis, and knew when he saw him that he was going to be something special. In fact, that whole undefeated Travis Mustang team that he had in 7th grade was amazing, and look at them now. District Champs 2007!! Now that I am working at the high school, I see those kids daily, and can keep my thumb on them, which helps! I am certain that they will continue to have success, and we will surely see a couple of them on TV on Sundays in the next few years!

Go Bobcats!

Well, after 9 years, Scott is finally a Varsity football coach, and for his hometown football team where he played High school ball nonetheless! I took the boys last weekend (8/29/08) to watch him coach his first Varsity game, and who did they play......Copperas Cove! Ouch!! But the boys had a good time anyway. Jaysen didn't quite understand that he couldn't go OUT onto the football field, so he definitely gave me my exercise! I had to stay right on his heels, because if I didn't, he would have been through the gates and onto the field....I'm certain daddy would have loved to look up and see his wife and son running under the goal posts during the game! Everyone was so surprised how good Dawsen was just hangin out in his car seat, but he has to be.....he knows his brother is high maintenance! At half time Jaysen really liked watching the band, of course, he had to point out all the instruments, and correct Mommy too! I told him to "look at the drums" and he said, "Timpani" and "Bass Drum".......excuuuuuuuse me! Then I told him to "look at the horns", meaning all the horns in general......he starting looking around, pointing, and saying, "trumpet, saxophone, trombone, tuba".....and with a rather confused look, he said, "no french horn!" He was actually looking for the french horns, not just all the horns! That boy amazes me daily....I have no idea where he gets the things he says and knows, but I am just blessed that he is such a great kid! A little stubborn, but great nonetheless! And I couldn't ask for a better baby.....Dawsen is perfect! Never cries, sleeps all night (12+ hours), and is perfectly content just sitting and watching bubba...thank goodness!! Even though the Bobcats got beat 56-0, we still had a great time, and couldn't have been more proud of Daddy!
